Waymo and Toyota are building factory-made robotaxis: are you more or less comfortable riding next to driverless cars?
Waymo's next robotaxi is a purpose-built Toyota bZ4X built on the factory line in Japan, with service starting in Tokyo in 2027 and the UK after that. For those of us who share the road with them, the big questions are behaviour, not hardware: do they give proper passing distance, do they door you at drop-offs, and do they handle a cyclist taking the lane? If you ride in a city with robotaxis already, how do they compare to human drivers?
