Iris fragrances that aren't powdery lipstick: any recommendations?

I love the idea of iris (cool, rooty, a bit earthy) but so many iris perfumes go straight to powdery cosmetics on my skin. The ones I've enjoyed most lean carroty or woody, or pair it with something like vetiver or leather. What iris scents have you rated highly lately, and do you get the rooty side or does it always turn into makeup bag for you too?
