Married folks: how do you split chores once it's dark at 5pm and nobody wants to move?

Clocks went back and suddenly our evenings feel 3 hours shorter. We used to split things loosely but now whoever gets home first just collapses on the sofa and the dishes sit there until it's a standoff. Do you have a system that actually survives winter? Rotas, apps, 'whoever cooks doesn't clean'?

our system is: the dog decides. whoever the dog follows into the kitchen does dishes

We batch cook on Sunday afternoon while it's still light. Weeknights are reheat and done

whoever cooks doesnt clean has saved our marriage tbh. also we put a 20 min timer on and both do stuff at once, way less resentment
