My guinea pigs have started 'complaining' every time I open the fridge in the cold

Since it got cold they've upgraded from normal wheeking to full opera any time the fridge opens. Like they know cucumber lives there. I moved their cage away from the drafty window, which they appreciated, but the fridge thing is getting worse. Does anyone else's pet have a specific sound it associates with food?
