Tips for walking dogs in the dark now that it's pitch black at 5pm?

Just realised every walk on weekdays is now in full darkness. Got a light-up collar but my lab still disappears into bushes the second he's off lead. What gear and habits do you swear by for dark winter walks?

reflective harness + clip-on light on the lead itself. and a hi-vis vest for me lol, cars dont see you otherwise

Keep him on a long line in the dark, recall is never as good as you think it is at night

my lab also disappears into bushes but in daylight too so no advice sorry
