Graduates are managing AI agents but learning less? This BBC piece hit close to home

bbc.co.uk

The BBC talked to recent graduates whose jobs now involve a lot of supervising AI tools instead of doing the junior grunt work themselves. I'm two years into my first job and honestly relate: I review a lot of generated output but I'm not sure I'd know how to build it from scratch. Seniors on my team learned by doing exactly the tasks that are now automated. How are your workplaces handling junior development, and if you're early-career, how do you make sure you're still building real skills?

Manager here. We started giving juniors one 'no AI' task per sprint on purpose. They hated it at first, now they ask for it

The scary part is that reviewing well requires knowing how it's done. you can't skip to senior judgment

idk, every generation says the juniors aren't learning the 'real' skills. people said the same about Stack Overflow

fair but stack overflow didn't do the entire task for you
