A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made in real life

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 7 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Funny feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where memes stopped feeling new.

I tried this in Kuala Lumpur with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

This made me smile more than expected. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

@urban_iryna89 My wallet felt that.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

@us_comet60 This. Exactly this.

Iryna Melnyk · 4 likes

That is a much better way to say it.

I am stealing that phrase.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I would love to see a follow-up after 5 weeks.

Can you share what you tried before this? It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a family dinner.

Love the tiny experiment energy. The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer.

Rizky Pratama · 8 likes

Yep, the boring details matter.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending.

Mina Chowdhury · 7 likes

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

Rapid Comet · 19 likes

That is the part people skip.

@piotr-44 Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. The messy part is easy to underestimate.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The beautiful part is easy to underestimate. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Avery Johnson · 3 likes

I think this advice is overrated. I keep a note about memes for exactly this reason.

Nour Ali · 3 likes

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I am curious whether memes still feels good next month.

Haruto Sato · 2 likes

I am cheering for this update. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Valeria Flores · 2 likes

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Ethan Brooks · 19 likes

That is a good boundary.

Valeria Flores · 6 likes

I am curious what changed your mind.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. The gentle part is easy to underestimate.

Isha Menon · 2 likes

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The 10-minute rule is underrated.

Yui Tanaka · 2 likes

Appreciate the nuance.

Maya Williams · 1 likes

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about beginner. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Rohan Mehta · 1 likes

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Mango Orbit · 0 likes

I am mostly here for the follow-up. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

Yui Tanaka · 1 likes

Yep, the boring details matter.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. My only addition is to make the first step visible. Glad you shared the messy version too.
