Hubble Space Telescope is a deeper rabbit hole than I expected for absolute beginners
en.wikipedia.org
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while.

That last line is excellent. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. The social part surprised me too.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? I would test it for 2 days before deciding.

Great point, especially the part about space. I noticed the same thing in Madrid. The scale of it still melts my brain a little.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink telescope. The social part surprised me too.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Kind of wild how often friction is the whole issue.

This is the gentle version of my rant.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. This would be a great classroom example.

This feels like advice from a patient friend.
