Open Source · by Cedar Otter · 2026-09-06

A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made from my lunch break notes

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Open Source feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 10 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I would love to see a follow-up after 6 weeks.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. That is where the boring checklist helps. This is exactly the kind of tradeoff teams argue about for weeks.
