Today I Learned · by Minh Nguyen · 2026-09-06

My favorite low-effort upgrade for science before coffee

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

The detail that surprised me was how much the corner shop changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 3 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Big fan of this approach. That is where the boring checklist helps. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

Good reminder that boring can be good.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. I keep a note about history for exactly this reason.
