I finally understand why Cycling people care about maintenance that actually stuck

I tried this in Berlin with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 3 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. bikes got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Appreciate the nuance.

Anecdote beats theory here.

Great point, especially the part about people. This pairs weirdly well with bibimbap.

Mildly negative take: the simple version is sometimes just underexplained. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat.

Can you expand on that a bit?

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether maintenance stayed easy. This pairs weirdly well with sourdough. Consistency beats intensity here.
