Today I Learned · by Hugo Martin · 2026-09-06

I changed one thing and suddenly science made sense on a budget

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. history got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where history stopped feeling new.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. The lunch break version is even more interesting.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Big fan of this approach. The first week version is even more interesting. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. The late summer version is even more interesting.
