Explain Like I'm Five · by Tiny Comet · 2026-09-07

I tried doing questions the boring way and it worked on a budget

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 10 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

I tried this in Warsaw with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar. For me it came down to the recipe.

Yep, the boring details matter.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

I had the same reaction to matter.

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

I wish more posts had this much context. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

This has cozy competence written all over it. My friend tried it in Cairo and had the opposite result.

This. Exactly this.

This made me smile more than expected. My friend tried it in Kuala Lumpur and had the opposite result.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 10 months. A little friction removed goes a long way.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. That is where the boring checklist helps.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. The Dublin example makes it feel concrete. I needed this reminder today.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The delightful part is easy to underestimate. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. I would test it for 8 days before deciding. Glad you shared the messy version too.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.
