My favorite low-effort upgrade for research for absolute beginners

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 6 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. It sounds small, but the recipe matters.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink effort. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This has cozy competence written all over it. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. The uncertainty is part of what makes it interesting.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The 4-minute rule is underrated.

The favorite angle is what sold me. A little friction removed goes a long way.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. The my desk detail changes the whole answer.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 4 months. The quiet constraint is probably the real story. The uncertainty is part of what makes it interesting.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. I am curious whether biology still feels good next month.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. I would test it for 3 days before deciding.

@ameliareads That is the part people skip.

That is a good boundary.

The kindness in this post is lovely. This pairs weirdly well with jollof rice.
