A beginner mistake I am weirdly glad I made from my first week notes
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the route for a while.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 8 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
> Tiny progress is still progress.
That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where performance stopped feeling new.
The detail that surprised me was how much a tiny balcony changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. The Melbourne example makes it feel concrete.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

I wish more posts had this much context. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The the kitchen detail changes the whole answer. Good reminder that tools should serve people, not the reverse.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. For me it came down to the recipe.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Kind of wild how often changing is the whole issue.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. I keep a note about javascript for exactly this reason. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem.

Great point, especially the part about notes. I would test it for 8 days before deciding.

Love the tiny experiment energy. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests. The social part surprised me too.

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. That is where the boring checklist helps. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether weirdly stayed easy. I would write it down before changing anything else. This is exactly the kind of tradeoff teams argue about for weeks.
