A gentle rant about critique and expectations before coffee
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the tiny repair for a while.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Drawing feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. critique got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.
Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. It sounds small, but the routine matters.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The lunch break version is even more interesting.

Love the tiny experiment energy. The Lagos example makes it feel concrete.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. A little friction removed goes a long way. I like that it feels lived-in instead of over-polished.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about before. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Good reminder that boring can be good. For me it came down to the route.

I would push back gently on the critique part. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

That last line is excellent. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The delightful constraint is probably the real story.
