I finally understand why Cars people care about maintenance after 20 tries

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I tried this in Seoul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where maintenance stopped feeling new.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Yep, the boring details matter.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

This reminds me of something a friend in Toronto mentioned. The social part surprised me too.

That is the part people skip.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I keep a note about evs for exactly this reason.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? The a family dinner detail changes the whole answer. Recovery is training too.

This has cozy competence written all over it. I keep a note about driving for exactly this reason.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The 5-minute rule is underrated. A tailwind can fix an entire personality for ten minutes.

This made me smile more than expected. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station.

Helpful correction.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

This. Exactly this.

That made the concept click.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I noticed the same thing in Cairo.
