Today I Learned · by Ethan Brooks · 2026-09-09

I finally understand why Today I Learned people care about culture for absolute beginners

I started this because my quiet Sunday felt a little stuck, and science seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where facts stopped feeling new.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 8 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

The learned angle is what sold me. That is the kind of detail beginners miss. Small progress still counts.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. I learned that one the expensive way. I needed this reminder today.

The vibe here is immaculate. My friend tried it in Buenos Aires and had the opposite result.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

Useful intention, poor execution. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly.
