A tiny win from Lagos that made my week from the train station
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while.

Can you share what you tried before this? The Cairo example makes it feel concrete. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether tiny stayed easy. I would test it for 10 days before deciding.

@sparrowMender1 That made the concept click.

@sparrowMender1 My wallet felt that.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

@kabir-93 I needed the reminder to start smaller.

@riverNomad75 This is the kind of disagreement I like.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

Adding this to my notes.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. I learned that one the expensive way.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. It sounds small, but the playlist matters.

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar.

That would annoy me more than it helped. I learned that one the expensive way.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

Kind of wild how often wallet is the whole issue.

@almareads Appreciate the nuance.

@mateocodes Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. This is more useful on a tired busy month than on a perfect day.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about tiny. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

Good reminder that boring can be good. The lunch break version is even more interesting.

Can you share what you tried before this? I am curious whether silly still feels good next month. Glad you shared the messy version too.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. It sounds small, but the recipe matters.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

This reminds me of something a friend in Manila mentioned. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink train. I learned that one the expensive way. Glad you shared the messy version too.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The the library detail changes the whole answer.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

Honestly, this is a little too vague to be useful. The 7-minute rule is underrated. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

The kindness in this post is lovely. The social part surprised me too.

The framing feels off to me. Not terrible, just not convincing. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Big fan of this approach. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Jakarta? It sounds small, but the tiny repair matters.
Wanjiku Mwangi · 3 likes
I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. This pairs weirdly well with lentil soup.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

I would push back gently on the lagos part. Glad you shared the messy version too.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The surprising constraint is probably the real story.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. I noticed the same thing in Lisbon.

That last line is excellent. My friend tried it in Berlin and had the opposite result.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. My friend tried it in Dublin and had the opposite result.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I keep a note about stories for exactly this reason.

I wish more posts had this much context. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The 8-minute rule is underrated.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.
