A tiny win from Lagos that made my week from the train station

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the recipe for a while

Can you share what you tried before this? The Cairo example makes it feel concrete. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether tiny stayed easy. I would test it for 10 days before deciding

yep, the boring details matter

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy

@sparrowMender1 That made the concept click

@kabir-93 I needed the reminder to start smaller

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me

Nour Ali · 17 likes

this is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. I learned that one the expensive way

Maya Williams · 2 likes

Appreciate the nuance

Lena Müller · 16 likes

Not wrong but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. It sounds small, but the playlist matters

Hugo Martin · 16 likes

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar

Mateo Cruz · 13 likes

That would annoy me more than it helped. I learned that one the expensive way

I laughed, but you are not wrong

@almareads Appreciate teh nuance

@mateocodes Good clarification — I read it differently at first

Mateo Cruz · 25 likes

I like this more then the top-level advice

Hugo Martin · 1 likes

I think both things can be true

Curious River · 12 likes

Really good advice, and it feels doable. This is more useful on a tired busy month then on a perfect day

Minji Kim · 12 likes

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about tiny. It sounds small, but the first draft matters

Maya Putri · 10 likes

Good reminder that boring can be good. The lunch break version is even more interesting

Maya Putri · 10 likes

Can you share what you tried before this? I am curious whether silly still feels good next month. Glad you shared the messy version too

Quiet Runner · 8 likes

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. It sounds small, but the recipe matters

Curious River · 8 likes

agree completely. The simple version is underrated. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me

Felix Weber · 8 likes

this reminds me of something a friend in Manila mentioned. I would write it down before changing anything else

Valentina Ruiz · 8 likes

I am saving this for the next time I overthink train. I learned that one the expensive way. Glad you shared the messy version too

Maya Putri · 6 likes

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The the library detail changes the whole answer

Olena Shevchenko · 6 likes

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. The awkward constraint is probly the real story

Niamh Byrne · 5 likes

honestly, this is a little too vague to be useful. The 7-minute rule is underrated. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer

Ren Suzuki · 4 likes

The kindness in this post is lovely. The social part surprised me too

Ethan Brooks · 5 likes

Can you expand on that a bit?

Marco Conti · 4 likes

The framing feels off to me. Not terrible just not convincing. My only addition is to make the first step visible

Sleepy Panda · 3 likes

Big fan of this approach. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me

Jasmine Cruz · 0 likes

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

Mariana Costa · 3 likes

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Jakarta? It sounds small, but the tiny repair matters

Wanjiku Mwangi · 3 likes

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. The low-effort version is probably the keeper

Léa Bernard · 3 likes

This feels like advice from a patient friend. This pairs weirdly well with lentil soup

Curious Noodle · 3 likes

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages

Tola Ibrahim · 3 likes

I would push back gently on the lagos part. Glad you shared the messy version too

Arif Hasan · 2 likes

Glad you shared it; small wins count. That is the kind of detail beginners miss

Mateo Ramírez · 2 likes

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The surprising constraint is probly the real story

Felix Weber · 2 likes

this sounds sensible though I would need to test it myself. I noticed the same thing in Lisbon

Paolo Garcia · 1 likes

That last line is excellent. My friend tried it in Berlin and had the opposite result

Hugo Martin · 1 likes

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. My friend tried it in Dublin and had the opposite result

Yui Tanaka · 1 likes

this is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. I keep a note about stories for exactly this reason

I wish more posts had this much context. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing

Emir Kaya · 0 likes

this is adorable and oddly motivating. The 8-minute rule is underrated

I think teh bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. This is kinder advice than most of teh internet manages
