What playlists looks like when you stop optimizing everything before coffee

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 7 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

I started this because my commute felt a little stuck, and albums seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the routine for a while.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. The 4-minute rule is underrated.

Adding this to my notes.

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. The social part surprised me too. Sound design deserves more credit.

I think both things can be true.

Honestly, great taste. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? I learned that one the expensive way.

Useful intention, poor execution. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a coworking table.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the kitchen.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

I had the same reaction to step.

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. I would test it for 9 days before deciding.

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. This belongs on a rainy evening list.
