What facts looks like when you stop optimizing everything from the library

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

That last line is excellent. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Adding this to my notes.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about library. The Nairobi example makes it feel concrete.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The ambitious part is easy to underestimate.

I do not have a strong take, but the like detail is useful. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

@solar-73 The best answer in the thread, honestly.

I am stealing that phrase.

Ren Suzuki · 4 likes

I would pin this if I could.

Chinedu Adeyemi · 2 likes

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

I am stealing that phrase.

This. Exactly this.

Ngozi Bello · 2 likes

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

Honestly, great taste.

Love the tiny experiment energy. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for.

Martina Fernández · 3 likes

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The quiet constraint is probably the real story.

Valeria López · 7 likes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Chloe Davis · 2 likes

Can you expand on that a bit?

Gentle Baker · 1 likes

Adding this to my notes.

Martina Fernández · 6 likes

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

Léa Bernard · 6 likes

Appreciate the nuance.

Siti Lim · 3 likes

I would push back gently on the stop part. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Tomás Gómez · 2 likes

That last line is excellent. It sounds small, but the tiny repair matters.

Noah Miller · 2 likes

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how different people's constraints are. I keep a note about science for exactly this reason. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Rohan Mehta · 3 likes

This is the kind of disagreement I like.

Huy Le · 1 likes

That is a much better way to say it.

Pixel Runner · 1 likes

I am curious what changed your mind.

Grace Parker · 2 likes

I disagree a bit. library matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

Amelia Hughes · 1 likes

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

Haruto Sato · 1 likes

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. The late summer version is even more interesting.

Maya Putri · 1 likes

I would pin this if I could.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I would love to see a follow-up after 7 weeks.

What would you change if you started over? It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.
