Houseplants · by Paolo Garcia · 2026-09-11

Notes from a very normal quiet Sunday with Houseplants after 20 tries

The detail that surprised me was how much my desk changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

This made me smile more than expected. A little friction removed goes a long way.

The normal angle is what sold me. I keep a note about houseplants for exactly this reason.

Can you expand on that a bit?

Really good advice, and it feels doable. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. The cozy part is easy to underestimate.

Adding this to my notes.

Agree completely. The simple version is underrated. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan.

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

@olenacodes22 Noted, and thank you.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. The low-effort version is probably the keeper. I needed this reminder today.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

The very angle is what sold me. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.
