I tried doing illustration the boring way and it worked before coffee

I started this because my weekend felt a little stuck, and critique seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I tried this in Istanbul with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I do not have a strong take, but the doing detail is useful. The cozy constraint is probably the real story.

The kindness in this post is lovely. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I would push back gently on the illustration part.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. I noticed the same thing in Jakarta.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

This is the gentle version of my rant.

The coffee angle is what sold me. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Good reminder that boring can be good. I would love to see a follow-up after 3 weeks.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about before. This is more useful on a tired weekend than on a perfect day. Process photos would be fun to see.

The kindness in this post is lovely. For me it came down to the route.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. I keep a note about critique for exactly this reason.
