What I wish I knew before trying kindness

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where family stopped feeling new.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Zeynep Demir · 10 likes

I needed the reminder to start smaller.

Sophie Gagnon · 13 likes

@tr_orbit I laughed, but you are not wrong.

That is the part people skip.

Fair pushback.

Tanvir Rahman · 3 likes

Same here. It took me too long to learn.

Urban Fern · 5 likes

Thanks, that actually helped.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

The Tuesday test is undefeated.

Haruto Sato · 2 likes

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Curious Noodle · 1 likes

Noted, and thank you.

Rizky Pratama · 27 likes

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar. It sounds small, but the setup matters.

What would you change if you started over? My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Noah Miller · 14 likes

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The 8-minute rule is underrated.

Jasmine Cruz · 16 likes

The best answer in the thread, honestly.

Piotr Zieliński · 12 likes

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Fair pushback.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Ananya Rao · 9 likes

I wish more posts had this much context. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

@fernRunner53 Kind of wild how often saved is the whole issue.

Mango Noodle · 7 likes

Can you expand on that a bit?

Valeria López · 9 likes

Honestly, great taste. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Rohan Mehta · 3 likes

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

Arif Hasan · 8 likes

Useful intention, poor execution. This is more useful on a tired commute than on a perfect day. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Jasmine Cruz · 7 likes

This reminds me of something a friend in Buenos Aires mentioned. I would love to see a follow-up after 2 weeks. Glad you shared the messy version too.

Urban Fern · 1 likes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Amina Okafor · 3 likes

That is the part people skip.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. I learned that one the expensive way.

Priya Nair · 5 likes

Glad you shared it; small wins count. It sounds small, but the playlist matters.

Bianca Santos · 15 likes

Anecdote beats theory here.

Pixel Noodle · 4 likes

That would annoy me more than it helped. I keep a note about wins for exactly this reason.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether wish stayed easy. The the corner shop detail changes the whole answer.

Mariam Said · 3 likes

I am saving this for the next time I overthink before. The a tiny balcony detail changes the whole answer.

Élodie Favre · 3 likes

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about before. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Sophie Gagnon · 2 likes

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The 6-minute rule is underrated.

Luciana Vargas · 6 likes

Fair pushback.

Niamh Byrne · 2 likes

The kindness in this post is lovely. The 9-minute rule is underrated.

Jasmine Cruz · 1 likes

This comment has main-character footnote energy.

Paolo Garcia · 2 likes

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Cozy Runner · 1 likes

Love the tiny experiment energy. The social part surprised me too.

@cozy-63 Anecdote beats theory here.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Haruto Sato · 1 likes

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. It sounds small, but the recipe matters.

Brave Lantern · 1 likes

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

Jiho Lee · 1 likes

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. My friend tried it in Mumbai and had the opposite result.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. I would love to see a follow-up after 10 weeks.

Amelia Hughes · 0 likes

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. The Jakarta example makes it feel concrete.
