Explain Like I'm Five · by Jasmine Cruz · 2026-09-12

How would you solve this rainy evening problem with questions when life is busy?

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the route for a while.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. explainers got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Yes, but I would approach it in a small, testable way rather than trying to solve everything at once. Most people skip the boring setup, but that setup is what makes the good habit survive a busy week.

- Start small and make the next step obvious.
- Keep notes so you can compare what worked.
- Ask someone with recent experience, not just strong opinions.

That should give you a solid first pass.

The middle path is probably best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. This pairs weirdly well with mango sticky rice.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.
