The messy joy of doing the first draft badly at first with a beautiful constraint

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the routine for a while.

Maybe, but the tradeoff seems bigger than the post suggests.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. The 6-minute rule is underrated. Local context changes everything.

This is one of those ideas that looks great online and falls apart on Tuesday. The messy part is easy to underestimate.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. I noticed the same thing in Lagos.

I would pin this if I could.

That made the concept click.

This is the gentle version of my rant.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Love the tiny experiment energy. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

The Tuesday test is undefeated.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 2 months.

The vibe here is immaculate. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Can you share what you tried before this? I would write it down before changing anything else.

I wish more posts had this much context. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

@mango_river48 Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. I would test it for 10 days before deciding. Local context changes everything.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

Isha Menon · 12 likes

Can you expand on that a bit?

Anecdote beats theory here.

Hugo Martin · 3 likes

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

@paper_otter The best answer in the thread, honestly.

I would love a follow-up example.

Honestly, this is a little too vague to be useful. I noticed the same thing in Warsaw.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether messy stayed easy. For me it came down to the conversation.
