A gentle rant about family and expectations after a tiny failure

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 2 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 7 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Wholesome feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

There is probably a middle ground here. It sounds small, but the recipe matters. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

Anecdote beats theory here.

@riderRunner27 Helpful correction.

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather than motivation. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. I would love to see a follow-up after 9 weeks.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing.

I am cheering for this update. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option.

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

Could be regional too.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the kitchen.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink failure.

I had the same reaction to next.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 4 months. The Cape Town example makes it feel concrete.

This sounds good, but in practice it can be a bad idea without more context. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.
