Open Source · by Cozy Fern · 2026-09-13

I finally understand why Open Source people care about maintainers that actually stuck

The detail that surprised me was how much my desk changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Open Source feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 9 months. The practical constraint is probably the real story.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I would test it for 9 days before deciding.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. This is more useful on a tired commute than on a perfect day.
