A gentle rant about networking and expectations after a tiny failure
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 4 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
The detail that surprised me was how much the train station changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the route for a while.

Good reminder that boring can be good. My friend tried it in Nairobi and had the opposite result. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The 9-minute rule is underrated.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. The social part surprised me too.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I learned that one the expensive way.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. I learned that one the expensive way.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. It sounds small, but the playlist matters. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. That is where the boring checklist helps. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Anecdote beats theory here.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

@tola-96 I needed the reminder to start smaller.

Honestly, great taste. This pairs weirdly well with pasta.

I am stealing that phrase.

The conclusion is too broad, but the example is interesting. I noticed the same thing in Buenos Aires. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I am curious whether privacy still feels good next month.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. A little friction removed goes a long way. I would love to see the benchmark numbers.

@ng_comet63 This is the gentle version of my rant.

@ng_comet63 Can you expand on that a bit?

What would you change if you started over? For me it came down to the setup.

Great point, especially the part about tiny. I am curious whether infosec still feels good next month. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

That is a much better way to say it.

The vibe here is immaculate. A little friction removed goes a long way.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.
