Why does investing feel easy for everyone except me when life is busy?

I started this because my winter felt a little stuck, and investing seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

Run the numbers on a normal month and a bad month. If the plan only works in the normal month, it is probably too fragile. I learned that one the expensive way.

I would make the decision with cash flow, risk, and optionality in mind rather than chasing the perfect answer. If two options look equal, choose the one that is easier to reverse.

- Keep one month of expenses visible in your checking buffer.
- Automate savings on payday.
- Avoid any plan you can only follow when life is perfect.

Source: mostly hard-won experience and comparing notes with people who stuck with it.

That should give you a solid first pass.
