A surprisingly useful lesson from a trailhead after 23 tries
My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
> Tiny progress is still progress.
That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where jokes stopped feeling new.
The detail that surprised me was how much a tiny balcony changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

This has cozy competence written all over it. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

That is a much better way to say it.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

This feels a little overrated to me, even if the intention is good. It sounds small, but the first draft matters.

@cedarrides Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.
