Today I Learned · by Chloe Davis · 2026-09-15

Notes from a very normal rainy evening with Today I Learned with a surprising constraint

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the route for a while.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 7 months. My friend tried it in Istanbul and had the opposite result.

Great point, especially the part about rainy. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

I had the same reaction to constraint.

Love the tiny experiment energy. The practical constraint is probably the real story.

This has cozy competence written all over it.

Respectfully, I see it the other way.

That is a good boundary.

I was going to disagree, but your second sentence got me.

I do not have a strong take, but the constraint detail is useful.

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. I keep a note about history for exactly this reason. Glad you shared the messy version too.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. The ambitious part is easy to underestimate.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. I would love to see a follow-up after 6 weeks. Small progress still counts.

Now I want a spreadsheet.

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

That last line is excellent.
