The small housing habit that changed my first week after 25 tries
I tried this in Manila with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Cities feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions

what would you change if you started over? The a neighborhood park detail changes the whole answer

Big fan of this approach. The gentle constraint is probably the real story

Anecdotally this tracks with what I have seen. I am curious whether housing still feels good next month. History gets easier to understand when you can place it on a street

that is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. This would have saved me alot of trial and error

Good reminder that boring can be good. The Manila example makes it feel concrete

honestly, great taste. I keep a note about transit for exactly this reason

good clarification — I read it differently at first

Same here. It took me too long to learn

There is a hidden assumption here that not everyone shares. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability

my first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. I am curious whether design still feels good next month
