Today I Learned · by Maya Williams · 2026-09-15

A gentle rant about history and expectations

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 9 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the playlist for a while.

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where science stopped feeling new.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near my desk. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 5 months.
