What family looks like when you stop optimizing everything in Mexico City

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 3 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I started this because my winter felt a little stuck, and wins seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 10 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

The boring logistics are always the hidden part. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Noted, and thank you.

Helpful correction.

@lanternPixel63 Kind of wild how often helpful is the whole issue.

That is fair, but I still worry about maintenance.

@midnight_pixel46 Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

Honestly, great taste. I keep a note about community for exactly this reason. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

I am saving this for the next time I overthink like. This pairs weirdly well with ramen.

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 10 months. The weekend version is even more interesting.

This reminds me of something a friend in Nairobi mentioned. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

This sounds good, but in practice it can be a bad idea without more context. This is more useful on a tired late summer than on a perfect day.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

What would you change if you started over?

I would love a follow-up example.

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. For me it came down to the recipe.

I wish more posts had this much context. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. Small progress still counts.

This has cozy competence written all over it. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result. Glad you shared the messy version too.

The looks angle is what sold me. I keep a note about community for exactly this reason.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.

My wallet felt that.

I wish more posts had this much context. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a family dinner.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The low-effort version is probably the keeper.
