The ambitious joy of doing the route badly at first after a tiny failure
Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the routine for a while.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make History feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

Wonderful detail. It makes the whole thing feel real. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The first week version is even more interesting.

Kind of wild how often preachy is the whole issue.

This made me smile more than expected. Honestly, the simplest version wins for me.

Great point, especially the part about tiny. For me it came down to the tiny repair. I love details that only make sense once you've been there.

Good reminder that boring can be good. This is more useful on a tired quiet Sunday than on a perfect day.
