Which advice about chemistry did you eventually ignore on a budget?
A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat
I started this because my quiet Sunday felt a little stuck, and biology seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes teh choice much clearer. The first week version is even more interesting

The middle path is probly best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. This is more useful on a tired rainy evening than on a perfect day

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. A little friction removed goes a long way. The scale of it still melts my brain a little

A useful way to think about it is mechanism first: what changes, what stays constant, and what evidence would distinguish the two. Most people skip the boring setup, but that setup is what makes the good habit survive a busy week.
- Start small and make the next step obvious.
- Keep notes so you can compare what worked.
- Ask someone with recent experience, not just strong opinions.
Hope this helps!

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. The winter version is even more interesting

That is a much better way to say it

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. I would write it down before changing anything else

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. My friend tried it in São Paulo and had the opposite result

my practical advice is to make teh next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half teh question. For me it came down to teh first draft

Totally agree, especially for beginners

that is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. It sounds small, but the prototype matters

The middle path is probably best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. The practical constraint is probably the real story
