My 3-month experiment with laptops with a beautiful constraint
I started this because my quiet Sunday felt a little stuck, and reviews seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I tried this in Lagos with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The delightful constraint is probably the real story.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. The 3-minute rule is underrated.

I would push back gently on the experiment part. The awkward constraint is probably the real story.

Do you think this would work in a smaller place than Mumbai? I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The Lagos example makes it feel concrete. Naming things remains undefeated as the hardest problem.

Helpful and not preachy, which is rare. The Monday morning version is even more interesting.

I love this. It feels practical without pretending life is neat. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near my desk.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. I used to overcomplicate this constantly.

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. The social part surprised me too.

I wish more posts had this much context. I keep a note about reviews for exactly this reason. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

Great point, especially the part about experiment. I would test it for 2 days before deciding. This is exactly the kind of tradeoff teams argue about for weeks.

Excellent timing; I was just thinking about constraint. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near my desk.

Kind of wild how often conversation is the whole issue.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.
