A surprisingly useful lesson from the corner shop that actually stuck

> Tiny progress is still progress.

That line sounds cheesy, but it got me through the part where family stopped feeling new.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. wins got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the conversation for a while.

The detail that surprised me was how much a family dinner changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. I keep a note about kindness for exactly this reason.

Can you share what you tried before this? That is the kind of detail beginners miss. I needed this reminder today.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Anecdote beats theory here.

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

I am mostly here for the follow-up. I would love to see a follow-up after 9 weeks.

I think this advice is overrated. My only addition is to make the first step visible.
