Explain Like I'm Five · by Nicolás Díaz · 2026-09-19

A tiny win from Mexico City that made my week on a budget

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. simple got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

This made me smile more than expected. I noticed the same thing in Buenos Aires.

Glad you shared it; small wins count. The São Paulo example makes it feel concrete.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. The 2-minute rule is underrated.

This depends heavily on budget, time and personality. The useful part is easy to underestimate.
