How would you solve this late summer problem with advice after a few failed attempts?

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I tried this in Manila with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

My practical advice is to make the next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half the question. I learned that one the expensive way.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Can you expand on that a bit?

My practical advice is to make the next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half the question. I would write it down before changing anything else.

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. The practical part is easy to underestimate.

The middle path is probably best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. A little friction removed goes a long way.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

My wallet felt that.

That is a much better way to say it.

You just saved me a bad purchase.

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. The late summer version is even more interesting.

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. The Cairo example makes it feel concrete.

The middle path is probably best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a neighborhood park.

The middle path is probably best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. This pairs weirdly well with jollof rice.

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. The practical constraint is probably the real story.

The solve angle is what sold me. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.
