Explain Like I'm Five · by Mango Orbit · 2026-09-24

What mistake taught you the most about explainers when life is busy?

The detail that surprised me was how much a tiny balcony changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

I started this because my rainy evening felt a little stuck, and questions seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday.

My practical advice is to make the next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half the question. This is more useful on a tired busy month than on a perfect day.

I would love a follow-up example.

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. This pairs weirdly well with lentil soup.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

Honestly, great taste. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability.
