A gentle rant about github and expectations for absolute beginners

I started this because my rainy evening felt a little stuck, and licenses seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. maintainers got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

I tried this in Nairobi with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option.

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. For me it came down to the playlist.

Can you expand on that a bit?

Thanks, that actually helped.

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy.

I laughed, but you are not wrong.

I would push back gently on the rant part. The São Paulo example makes it feel concrete.

Did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? This is where I would ask one more question before choosing.
