What I wish I knew before trying habits for absolute beginners
I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.
I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 7 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.
I started this because my commute felt a little stuck, and habits seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Fitness feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself. I would love to see a follow-up after 5 weeks.

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. The social part surprised me too.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the library.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. I would love to see a follow-up after 5 weeks. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

Can you share what you tried before this? For me it came down to the routine. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

I like this more than the top-level advice.

This reminds me of something a friend in Lagos mentioned. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.

The vibe here is immaculate. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a coworking table.
