How do you stay consistent when budgeting gets boring after a few failed attempts?

This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. saving got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

I started this because my first week felt a little stuck, and budgeting seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

Run the numbers on a normal month and a bad month. If the plan only works in the normal month, it is probably too fragile. That is where the boring checklist helps.
