Web Dev · by Nusrat Akter · 2026-09-26

What I wish I knew before trying backend from my quiet Sunday notes

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Web Dev feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I know this is a tiny sample size, but after 2 attempts the pattern is pretty clear. When I keep the setup simple, I actually follow through.

The detail that surprised me was how much the library changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy.

This has cozy competence written all over it. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here.

Can you expand on that a bit?

Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes.

I am stealing that phrase.

Anecdote beats theory here.

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a neighborhood park.

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar. I would write it down before changing anything else.

This reminds me of something a friend in Berlin mentioned. I would test it for 2 days before deciding.

This feels like advice from a patient friend. I would love to see a follow-up after 10 weeks.

That made the concept click.

I found this disappointing because it skips the hardest part.
