The small sourdough habit that changed my lunch break for absolute beginners

Part of me wanted the fancy version with all the tools. The better version was boring: one notebook, one reminder, and a willingness to be clumsy with the setup for a while.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 7 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. This is more useful on a tired busy month than on a perfect day.

Thanks for making it less intimidating.

Honestly, great taste. That is where the boring checklist helps.

Can you share what you tried before this? I am curious whether bread still feels good next month.

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot.

Good clarification — I read it differently at first.

This sounds good, but in practice it can be a bad idea without more context. My friend tried it in Kuala Lumpur and had the opposite result.

The beginners angle is what sold me. My only addition is to make the first step visible.

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. I noticed the same thing in Istanbul. Now I'm hungry, which feels unfair.

Totally agree, especially for beginners.

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen. That is the kind of detail beginners miss.

I wish more posts had this much context. The social part surprised me too.

Useful intention, poor execution. I would write it down before changing anything else.

Big fan of this approach. My friend tried it in Lagos and had the opposite result. I would absolutely hover near the kitchen for this.
