Today I Learned · by Irene López · 2026-09-27

A tiny story about tacos, Cairo and timing before coffee

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Today I Learned feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I started this because my commute felt a little stuck, and science seemed like a manageable place to experiment. The funny part is that the smallest change was the one I kept.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

I do not have a strong take, but the before detail is useful.

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. I noticed the same thing in São Paulo.
