Notes from a very normal quiet Sunday with Funny without making it complicated
I tried this in Manila with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.
Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Funny feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.
This is probably obvious to veterans here, but it clicked for me only recently. jokes got easier when I stopped treating every attempt like a final exam.

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. The social part surprised me too.

I think both things can be true.

This is the kind of useful internet I still show up for. This would have saved me a lot of trial and error.

Big fan of this approach. I noticed the same thing in Madrid. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages.

I like the idea, but the setup probably matters a lot. The Mexico City example makes it feel concrete. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer.
